Why I wanted to be a Library trustee:
Since childhood, I have always loved reading and could often be found with a book in hand—more often than not, one borrowed from the library. I have fond memories of spending many afternoons at the library with my sisters, and I now cherish the opportunity to create similar experiences with my own children. I take every chance I get to visit new libraries and have especially appreciated the wonderful programs offered by the Carol Stream Library. My desire to become a library trustee stems from a hope that I can help others in our community create the same kinds of joyful memories centered around reading and discovery.
What I love about Carol Stream:
I’ve always appreciated how active and engaged the Carol Stream community is. There’s always something to do, and the variety of events offered throughout the year provides fun and connection for the whole family.
Besides being a Board member, I'm involved in the community in the following ways:
As a mother of two active boys, you can often find me at Park District events, cheering on my kids' teams. I’m also a member of the Young Men’s Service League with my older son and actively participate in community organizations that support women and their families.
My favorite thing about our library:
While I’ve always loved the children’s and family programming offered by our library, one of the hidden gems I often recommend to friends is the library’s collection of audiobooks and eBooks available through Libby and Hoopla.
My all-time favorite things to read, watch, or listen to:
While I will give any book a try, my favorite genres are psychological thrillers and novels.
