Paws for Reading

Research shows that kids who read to certified, reading therapy dogs improve their oral reading fluency and their reading confidence. Sign up for a 15-minute time slot to read one-on-one to a special canine companion. Space is limited and parental permission is required. Register at the Youth Services desk.

End of Summer Slime Fest (Offsite)

It's the last day of summer vacation--time for slime! We will provide the materials and directions for you to make your own oozy, gooey slime. Weather permitting.

Offsite at Armstrong Park, 391 Illini Dr., Carol Stream. Meet between the basketball court and parking lot. Look for CSPL flags.

Story Time on the Road (Offsite)

This drop-in story time is for children ages five and under with an accompanying adult. Join us for a fun time with stories, rhymes, and songs.

Twilight Tales (Library)

Bring the whole family for story time. Stories will be aimed at preschoolers, but all ages are welcome with an accompanying adult.

Homeschool Hangout: Picnic in the Park (Offsite)

Join other homeschooling families for a show-and-tell picnic to kick off the school year! We'll provide lunch. Bring your favorite thing to tell the group about. It could be a book, craft, toy, picture...anything you'd like!

Please consider bringing your own lunch if you have specific dietary restrictions.

At Armstrong Park: Shelter by Kids World Playground at the north end of the park off of Idaho Street entrance. Look for CSPL flags.

Story Crafters (Library)

Summer – and good sailing weather – isn’t over yet! Hear tales of pirates who braved the open sea while you make a swashbuckling craft.

Kindergarten Kids (Offsite)

Presented in a story time setting, your soon-to-be student will hear stories about kindergarten and practice some school skills!

Participants must be entering kindergarten in August 2019 to sign up

Smart Cookie Book Club 2nd Session (Offsite)

Let’s get together at Panera Bread, enjoy some cookies, and talk about Max and the Midknights by Lincoln Peirce (author of Big Nate). Get a free copy of the book at the Youth Services Desk when you register!

One More Chapter Book Club (Offsite) (2nd Session)

If you’ve ever said, “I’ll just read one more chapter!”, this is the club for you! Join us as we munch on Panera cookies and talk about The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen. Get a free copy at the Youth Services Desk.
