Thomas F. Arends, Trustee

Thomas Arends was elected to his first term as a trustee in April 2007, and his current term expires in 2011. Arends, a University of Notre Dame and DePaul graduate, is a local tax attorney in private practice. He has served on the Library’s Citizen Advisory Committee and the Referendum Committee. He is also an active member of the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce and Illinois State Bar Association tax committees. Jim Bailey, Trustee

Jim Bailey born in Memphis, TN, the youngest of ten children and is now married and has four daughters. He is retired. The experience he brought to the Board in 2005 includes eight years in the U.S. Air Force and 24 years of living in Carol Stream. His term will expires in 2011. He is also active with the Rotary Club of Carol Stream and Heritage Presbyterian Church. He believes that the Library is a key asset in the village. Robert E. Douglas, President

Rob Douglas is an assistant state's attorney for DuPage County in the Civil Division. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a law degree from DePaul University. A trustee since 1986, he served as president of the board for 12 years. His current term expires in 2013. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2009, after 30 years of service at the rank of Colonel. During his career in the Army, he served active duty tours in both Bosnia and Iraq. Being active in the community, Douglas brings his commitment to Carol Stream to the Board along with his legal expertise. Mary Hudspeath, Secretary

Mary Hudspeth Mary is the Volunteer Manager at Naper Settlement Museum. She began serving on the board in January 2003 and her current term expires in 2013. Mary has a bachelor's degree in History and Anthropology from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. She believes that libraries fire the imagination and are a valuable community asset. She can be reached at mhudspeath@att.net.

Barbara E. Siegman, Trustee

Barb Siegman Barbara is a project manager at Tellabs with over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she majored in English and minored in Library Science. She was elected to her forth term as a Trustee in April 2007, and her current term expires in 2011. Ms. Siegman believes that the role of the library is to share information with all community members. Michael Wade, Treasurer

Michael Wade was elected to his first term as library trustee in April 2009, and his current term expires in 2013. Currently, he is on the library’s finance committee and has made contributions and attended facilities committee meetings. He holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Buffalo State University. For the last 20 years, he has served as president and owner of Seaco Data Systems, Inc. With an extensive background in technology and business management, Wade believes these skills will benefit the library and help improve service to the community of Carol Stream. He is active in the community and enjoys spending time to support his children’s sport, school, and scouting functions.
