Groundbreaking Reads

Check out “Groundbreaking Reads” during our 2013 Summer Reading Program. Register on our website, www.cslibrary.org, or in the Library. You will have access to book reviews and related Internet resources.
Each book read and recorded will grant you one entry in that week’s drawing, which will feature gift certificates to local businesses and other fun prizes. Read and record at least one book, ebook, or unabridged audiobook by 5:00 p.m. on August 10 in order to enter to win the grand prize, an iPad mini.

Youth Summer Reading Programs

Summer is fast approaching, bringing another exciting children’s summer reading program to the Library! The summer reading program officially begins Monday, June 10.

Beneath the Surface

Grades 6 - 8

Beneath the Surface

Middle school students in grades 6-8 will go “Beneath the Surface.” They will enjoy exploring below the earth’s crust, where many treasures lie, including wildlife, gems, and hobbit homes.

Dig Into Reading

Preschool - Grade 5


Dig into Reading

“Dig into Reading” is the theme for preschoolers, ages 4 and under, and elementary students. Both groups will experience a new kind of dig each week. They will delve into programs and activities that include dinosaurs, gardening, underground animals, reading for fun, and more!

Fourth of July Barbeque:
Beyond the Basics

Thursday, June 20,
6:30-8:30 p.m.

Spend a culinary evening with Chef Maddox learning some new recipes to enjoy over your independence holiday. In this class, guests will learn some great ideas beyond the basic burgers, buns, and garnishes. A program surely not to be missed.

Attendees will be given samples of the food. Please contact Adult Services if you have any specific food allergies the presenter should be aware of.
Registration is required. Attendee must be 12 years or older.

Digging Up History: Cahokia Mounds

Friday, June 21,
1:30-2:30 p.m.

Dig into the past with an interesting and interactive program about Cahokia Mounds in southwestern Illinois. There will be stories, crafts and games to introduce children to the Cahokia society. Consider Cahokia as a family destination this summer and dig up some fun of your own!
Attendee must be 8 Years or older.

Chess-Library Tournament Play

June-August, Wednesdays,
1:30-2:30 p.m.

Kids ages eight and up who already know how to play chess are invited to sign up for Wednesday matches that will conclude with a Library tournament. More details available at the Youth Services Desk.
Attendee must be between the ages of 8 Years and 17 Years old.

1:30-2:30 p.m.

Kids ages seven and up who are beginning players and/or interested in non-competitive play are invited to sign up for Chess on Thursdays this summer. More details available at the Youth Services Desk.
Attendee must be between the ages of 7 Years and 17 Years old.

English Conversation Practice for ESL

Meets Tuesdays from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
(please check the Library calendar for meeting dates)

English practice for ESL learners at all levels offered in partnership with Literacy Dupage. No signup or preparation is necessary. All English as a second language learners are welcome and library membership is not required. Come when you can.
This is an ongoing program.
