The Library supports outreach activities such as Christmas Sharing, Relay for Life, and Food for Fines for the local food bank, and serves as a meeting place for local clubs and organizations. By going beyond serving the traditional library role in the community, the Library is not only a great place to work, but a valued organization to have in your community.
On June 9, the Carol Stream Public Library was honored at an awards luncheon as one of “Chicago's 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For”. This honor highlights over 360 years of dedication that the staff of the Carol Stream Public Library bring to the organization. With one third of its staff having over 10 years of service, another dozen ranging in employment from 10-19 years and this past year two department heads celebrating their 25 year anniversaries, the Library represents a valued and admired organization to work for in the community. Reinforcing the staff’s high regard for the Library, an anonymous survey was sent to selective staff to obtain key aspects of the work environment, which was used as part of the criteria for selecting the winners.
In return for their dedication, the Library grows its own by supporting the continued professional and personal development of its staff. Several employees while working at the CSPL have advanced in their positions or completed their degrees. The Library also contributes to the development of the Carol Stream community by supporting outreach activities such as Christmas Sharing, Relay for Life, Food for Fines for the local food bank and serving as a meeting place for clubs and organizations. By going beyond serving the traditional library role in the community, the CSPL is not only a great place to work, but a valued organization to have in your community.
Library Director, Ann Kennedy shares her personal rewards for working at the CSPL, “I think the Library has always been a great place to work. It has allowed me to do the job I love while still raising a family. I’ve been encouraged to grow and learn while working here. The Administration and Library Board has always valued the contributions of the staff and I’m sure that they will continue to do so.”
